The semisub Transocean Winner has spudded exploration well 25/5-6 on the Mon prospect in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea, according to operator Lundin Petroleum.

STOCKHOLM -- The semisub Transocean Winner has spudded exploration well 25/5-6 on the Mon prospect in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea, according to operator Lundin Petroleum. The Mon prospect is estimated to contain gross unrisked prospective resources of 123 MMboe.

Well 25/5-6 will target Tertiary age sandstones in a stratigraphic trap and has a planned total depth of approximately 2,400 m (7,874 ft) below mean sea level. Drilling is expected to take approximately 40 days, excluding testing.
