Statoil steps up Johan Sverdrup delineation in North Sea

Petroleum Safety Authority Norway has authorized Statoil to drill two further wells this summer in the Johan Sverdrup discovery area in the North Sea.

OSLO, Norway – Petroleum Safety Authority Norway has authorized Statoil to drill two further wells this summer in the Johan Sverdrup discovery area in the North Sea.

The semisubmersibleOcean Vanguard will drill wells 16/2-12 and 16/2-14 in water depths of about 115 m (377 ft).

Well 16/2-12 is an exploration well on the Geitungen prospect with an estimated duration of 39 days. Well 16/2-14 is an appraisal well named “Espeværhøgda Appraisal,” and is expected to take 55 days to drill.

A further 20 days could be needed for a potential well test.
