Tullow abandons offshore Mauritania well as dry hole
The drillship Stena DrillMax is P&A’ing Tullow Oil’s latest deepwater exploration well offshore Mauritania.
Tullow reported the Tapendar-1 exploration well in the C-10 license has not encountered hydrocarbons. Tapendar-1 was drilled to test two Miocene and Upper Cretaceous targets. Neither, however, delivered hydrocarbons.
The earlierFrégate-1 well was a discovery, but probably sub-commercial.
The partners will analyze and integrate the results into existing seismic before determining locations for future wells targeting conventional oil plays.
