CALGARY, Canada -- Oilexco North Sea has identified an extension to the Huntington Forties Pool on block 22/14a while drilling the 22/14b-9 well and the 22/14b-9z sidetrack well.

The 22/14b-9 well encountered 58 ft (18 m) of oil-bearing Forties sandstone. Wireline pressures confirmed the sandstones were connected with the Huntington Forties Pool, suggesting that the oil pool extends from block 22/14b onto a portion of the adjacent block 22/14a, the company says.

Oilexco will incorporate all the data into a field development to submit to the UK authorities.

Additionally, the 22/14b-9z sidetrack encountered 26.3 feet (8 m) of oil-bearing Forties sandstone on the flank of a seismic anomaly. The drillstem test yielded a flow rate of 2,707 b/d of oil through a 56/64-in. (0.2-cm) choke, with no water or sand produced during the test, the company says.
