HOUSTON -- The West Tapir exploration well on block 30 offshore Suriname proved uncommercial, according to Noble Energy. Located in 300 ft (91 m) of water, the well was drilled to 12,700 ft (3,871 m) TD.

"West Tapir is the first well to be drilled offshore Suriname in over 20 years and the drilling results will allow us to evaluate and improve our understanding of the basin," Rodney Cook, Noble's senior VP of International. "We will incorporate the findings into our geological and geophysical interpretations, which will influence our risk assessment of the remaining prospects."
