OSLO, Norway -- The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate has approved Statoil’s request for wildcat drilling close to the Mikkel field in the Norwegian Sea.
The semisub Transocean Leader will drill well 6407/3-1 S in production license 312, after it has completed well 6407/4-2 for Statoil in PL 429.
PL 312, awarded in December 2003, comprises part of blocks 6407/3 and 6407/6. The well will be drilled 6 km (3.7 mi) north of the Mikkel gas/condensate field.
