LONDON -- Premier Oil Vietnam South expects to spud an appraisal well in block 07/03 off southern Vietnam in the next few weeks, according to partner Pan Pacific Petroleum.

The CRD-2X well will evaluate the CRD-1X oil and gas discovery, drilled in June 2009.

CRD-1X well encountered around 90 m (295 ft) of net pay within multiple stacked reservoir layers. Two of these reservoir zones were tested and flowed oil at a combined rate of 3,265 b/d with 8.1 MMcf/d of gas, via a 48/64” choke. No water was produced from either zone.

Pan Pacific adds that the new well has designed to reduce uncertainty over whether the CRD structure holds sufficient volumes for a potential development.
