More oil proven on Johan Sverdrup east flank
Results from the latest appraisal well on the Johan Sverdrup field offshore Norway were generally positive, said operator Lundin Norway.
The semisubmersibleBredford Dolphin drilled well 16/3-6 in the eastern part of the structure in license PL501. It delivered an 11.5-m (38-ft) oil column in good-quality Upper Jurassic sandstone. The reservoir rests directly on granitic basement.
Data-gathering consisted of a comprehensive coring and logging program, including a log-inject log wireline run for EOR screening. A pressure gauge was installed in the hole to monitor reservoir pressure over two to five years.
Bredford Dolphin will next drill well 16/4-7 for Lundin in PL544.
