Statoil to drill on new North Sea license

The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate has authorized Statoil to drill an exploratory well in the central Norwegian North Sea.

OSLO, Norway – The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate has authorized Statoil to drill an exploratory well in the central Norwegian North Sea.

The semisubmersibleOcean Vanguard will drill well 25/9-4 on production license 628, awarded early last year under Norway’s APA 2011 round.

The license takes in parts of blocks 25/6, 25/9, 26/4, and 26/7. BP drilled well 26/4-1 on the acreage in 1987.
