Petrobras adopts Dril-Quip technology for presalt drilling

Petrobras has selected Dril-Quip to supply drill-through systems for its presalt development wells offshore Brazil following a competitive bid process.

For subsea wellheads, Dril-Quip offers its SS-15 RLDe Rigid Lockdown Subsea Wellhead System, SS-15 BigBore IIe Subsea Wellhead System, and the SS-20 BigBore IIe Subsea Wellhead System.

HOUSTON — Petrobras has selected Dril-Quip to supply drill-through systems for its presalt development wells offshore Brazil following a competitive bid process.

Dril-Quip cited its recent technological advances, such as its Big Bore II "e" wellhead development and achievements in seal qualification.

Under the drill-through systems wellhead contract agreement, the company will aim to help Petrobras achieve rig time savings of up to six days per well in ultradeep waters, leading to cost savings and lower carbon emissions.

The Big Bore II technology is designed to eliminate the need for additional lockdown devices, employing advanced seal assemblies and enabling streamlining of drilling procedures.
