OSLO, Norway  The Borr Norve jackup has started drilling the first production well on the Hibiscus/Ruche Phase 1 development in the Dussafu Block offshore Gabon.

Operator BW Energy is aiming for first oil in March.

The DHIBM-3H well will target the Gamba sandstone reservoir on the Hibiscus Field. Last week installation finished of the associated flexible pipelines and risers, completing the 20-km connection between the BW MaBoMo production platform and the FPSO BW Adolo.

During December, the new gas-lift compressor to support production for the six existing Tortue wells was placed, with installation continuing. Commissioning and startup of the compressor should start directly following first oil from Hibiscus/Ruche.

Carl Krogh Arnet, CEO of BW Energy, said, “This will be the first step of many on a path for successive production growth as we complete the drilling Hibiscus/Ruche Phase 1 program and asset upgrades through 2023 and into early 2024.”

The initial drilling campaign is focused on the Hibiscus and Ruche fields. When all the wells are completed in early 2024, they should boost overall oil production by about 30,000 bbl/d.
