VAALCO Energy has achieved the first milestone of its latest drilling campaign offshore Gabon, according to the company's latest operations update.

The Etame 14H development well, drilled and completed in an attic position within the Etame Field’s Main Fault Block, is now in production, with an initial flow rate of about 4,850 bbl/d of oil.

During drilling, the well delivered 325 m of net pay in good-quality Gamba reservoir sands, with porosity and permeability exceeding expectations.

The rig has since mobilized to the Ebouri Field platform and has started drilling the EEBOM-5H development well. This is targeting an updip/attic position via a sidetrack from the previously abandoned EEBOM-5P well.

VAALCO is also a partner in the Baobab Field offshore Cote d’Ivoire. The FPSO Baobab Ivorien returned to the field in early April following a 47-day tow from the DryDocks World shipyard where it underwent a comprehensive refurbishment.

It is now moored at its original location with reconnection of the risers and umbilicals underway, ahead of a planned resumption of production during the current quarter.
