OSLO, Norway – Equinor has permission from Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority to use the semisubmersible Deepsea Atlantic at the Johan Sverdrup field in the North Sea.
The rig will perform a combination of production drilling, completion and temporary well plugging.
In addition, the PSA has given Equinor, Gassco, and Vår Energi the go-ahead for manned underwater operations in 2022.
The consents apply to facilities and pipeline systems on the Norwegian continental shelf, and pipelines subject to Norwegian jurisdiction on neighboring countries’ shelves.
