RIO DE JANEIROPetrobras has found hydrocarbons with its latest exploratory well offshore Brazil.

Well 1-BRSA-1381-SPS (Curaçao) was drilled in 1,905 m (6,250 ft) of water on the Aram block in the presalt Santos basin, 240 km (149 mi) from the city of Santos-SP.

Wireline logging and fluid samples revealed an oil-bearing interval, and further laboratory analysis will follow. Drilling will continue to the anticipated depth.

The partners plan to delineate the extent of the discovery and to characterize reservoir conditions and use the data to help guide the next exploratory activities in the area.

According to Petrobras, the result of this well underlines the benefit of maximized use of processed data in real time to support quick safe decision-making.

The company acquired the Aram block in March 2020 under the ANP’s 6th Bidding Round, with Pre-Sal Petróleo as manager. Petrobras operates with an 80% share, the remaining 20% held by CNODC.
