Vela to drill for Equinor in the Gulf of Mexico

Equinor has awarded Aquadrill LLC a one-well contract for the drillship Vela in the US Gulf of Mexico.

LONDON – Equinor has awarded Aquadrill LLC a one-well contract for the drillship Vela in the US Gulf of Mexico.

Seadrill Ltd. will manage and operate the rig.

Total contract value for the firm portion is expected to be $55 million. The contract is expected to start in October 2021 and run until April 2022.
