PERTH, Australia – Petrofac has identified the long-lead equipment needed for Carnarvon Petroleum’s planned well on the Buffalo field in the Timor Sea.

Drilling of the Buffalo-10 well is due to start before year-end. Following a recent farm-out to UK-based Advance Energy, Carnarvon received $20 million to fund the drilling campaign.

Procurement of equipment has started, with orders placed for the conductor pipe, wellhead, liner hanger and associated services. The tender process for the drilling rig is nearing completion for a suitable jackup to be available in 4Q.

In addition, Carnarvon has started the process of securing approvals from the Timor-Leste government for drilling the well.
