RIO DE JANEIRO – Petrobras has discovered hydrocarbons in the Urissanê prospect on block CM-411 in the presalt Campos basin offshore Brazil.
Well 1-BRSA-1377-RJS is about 200 km (124 mi) from the coast in 2,950 m (9,678 ft) of water. Drilling confirmed the presence of oil in reservoirs in the presalt section.
Petrobras plans to analyze the well data to better target exploratory activities in the area and assess the potential of the discovery.
The company operates and holds a 50% interest in block CM-411. ExxonMobil Exploração Brasil Ltda. holds the other 50%.
