LONDONi3 Energy expects the semisubmersible Borgland Dolphin to arrive soon at the Liberator field in the central UK North Sea.

The rig is contracted for a 94-day program that will include:

  • A pilot well on block 13/23d which should optimize the placement of the first Liberator Phase I production well, LP-02, due to be drilled in 2020
  • The Liberator West (LA-03) appraisal well on block 13/23c, intended to partially convert Liberator West resources into reserves
  • The SA-01 well on the Serenity prospect, potentially proving an extension of the neighboring Tain discovery.

Next year i3 expects to conduct further development drilling and to deliver first oil from Liberator at around 20,000 b/d.

If appraisal and development of Liberator and Serenity are successful, the company believes it could produce more than 200 MMbbl from its current licences.

Dana Petroleum discovered Liberator, which extends across blocks 13/23d and 13/23c, in November 2013. The location is 2 km (1.24 mi) from the producing Blake field’s drill center.
