WARRINGTON, UK – Metal-to-metal downhole sealing specialist BiSN has deployed its Wel-lok M2M technology in the North Sea, Angola, and Australia this year.
Further deployments are scheduled in the US, Africa, the North Sea, and Australia.
One of the highlights of the various campaigns was the testing of what the company claims was the testing of a record-size bismuth plug tool following an earlier deployment of the technique in a well in the Norwegian North Sea.
BiSN’s technology employs modified thermite heaters to reduce the heating time needed for a metal-to-metal sealant from hours to minutes, and is said to dispense with specialist wireline equipment, with no restrictions on deployment depth.
