Tapti platforms removed under India’s first offshore decom project

The Panna-Mukta and Tapti joint venture between Shell, Reliance Industries and ONGC have completed India’s first offshore facilities decommissioning project, removing the mid and south Tapti Field facilities. 

The Panna-Mukta and Tapti (PMT) joint venture between Shell, Reliance Industries and ONGC have completed India’s first offshore facilities decommissioning project, removing the mid and south Tapti Field facilities. 

In total, main contractor Larsen & Toubro removed five wellhead platforms and associated infield pipelines, followed by load-in at the Chowgule Shipyard for onshore dismantling in Ratnagiri. In addition, the program involved P&A of 38 wells.

Reliance added that the program helped influence India’s regulatory and operational framework for offshore decommissioning. It was developed in collaboration with the Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG), Directorate General of Hydrocarbons (DGH), and Oil Industry Safety Directorate (OISD).
