ONS 2026: Equinor advances digital operations through expanded Emerson collaboration

Emerson will support Equinor's offshore and onshore operations with instrumentation technologies and associated services.

  • Equinor is one of the world's largest offshore operators, and wider deployment of automation and digital technologies could help improve recovery rates and extend the productive life of existing offshore assets. 

  • The agreement reflects an industry-wide focus on using digitalization, advanced instrumentation and remote monitoring to boost efficiency and reduce operating costs without major new infrastructure investments.

Emerson will support Equinor’s global offshore and onshore operations with measurement instrumentation technologies and associated services.

Under the collaboration, the two companies will work to introduce modern automation technologies to raise operational performance.

Emerson will deploy wide-ranging instrumentation and analytical technologies and life-cycle services to help Equinor speed up project development, extend field life, improve recovery and implement standardised operations.

The two companies have been cooperating for more than four decades, more recently on digitalization initiatives.

Equinor has been using Emerson’s subsea multiphase flow meters, downhole monitoring systems, valves, emissions management systems, control systems, asset management systems and safety, pressure and temperature measurement instrumentation.


Emerson is exhibiting at booth 9450 and Equinor is exhibiting at booth 8000 at the Offshore Northern Seas (ONS) event this week in Stavanger, Norway.
