Lamprell has contracted Danish company Ventherm to provide a robotic service for treatment of transition pieces fabricated for offshore wind foundations.

The fully automated system, to be installed at Lamprell’s Hamriyah site, will be capable of handling complex geometries. It will feature a blasting robot for surface preparation and a paint robot operating within a 140-m-long booth.

In addition, Ventherm will supply paint equipment for heavy-duty coating systems, with automatic programming capabilities. This will allow the robots to adapt to varying specifications with minimal manual input.

By adding the service to its serial production line, Lamprell aims to improve productivity and reduce waste. It is due to be fully operational by 2026.

Lamprell inking multiple contracts this year

Earlier this year, Lamprell signed a memorandum of understanding with Dong Fang Offshore to construct a new NG-9000X wind turbine installation and maintenance vessel. The GustoMSC-designed NG-9000X vessel will support offshore wind developments in the Asia-Pacific region and will be able to handle latest-generation wind turbines.

And a month before that news, in April, Lamprell extended its offshore long-term agreement (LTA) with Saudi Aramco, which was first awarded in 2018. Lamprell company has completed various LTA projects to date and is constructing equipment for others in the UAE.

In addition, at the start of the year, Lamprell signed a multi-year wellhead tower framework agreement with ADNOC Group, supporting the latter’s offshore infrastructure and production growth initiatives.
