Genesis North America (GNA), as a subcontractor of COOEC, has commissioned ABS to support the RUYA project in Qatar.
This is a production capacity improvement plan that is aimed at boosting production from the giant offshore Al Shaheen Field, 70 km northeast of Ras Laffan, by about 100,000 bbl/d of oil.
A team of ABS analysts team will lead a safety engineering program designed to provide risk mitigation and asset integrity support. ABS will also perform various studies including dropped object analysis for subsea pipelines and cables.
Back in mid-2022, Offshore's sister publication Oil & Gas Journal reported that North Oil Co. let a FEED contract to McDermott for the RUYA development, previously referred to as Al-Shaheen Phase 3-Batch 1, offshore Qatar. The award followed successful completion of the pre-FEED contract for work at the giant Al-Shaheen oil field.
