Tideland to supply Manifa platform navigational aids

J Ray McDermott Inc. has awarded Tideland Signal a $0.5 million contract to supply navigational aids for ARAMCO's Manifa offshore platforms (WIP and PP) off the coast of Saudi Arabia.

HOUSTON -- J Ray McDermott Inc. has awarded Tideland Signal a $0.5 million contract to supply navigational aids for ARAMCO's Manifa offshore platforms (WIP and PP) off the coast of Saudi Arabia.

Tideland will supply 28 solar-powered beacon systems and 24 systems that are powered from an AC mains supply with battery back-up. Both systems are built around Tideland's ML-300UL lanterns coupled with the TF-3B MicroPower Omnibus II flasher lampchanger and batteries.

The 28 solar-powered units are each equipped with a 20W solar module charging a lead acid battery housed in a GRP battery box. The mains-powered units are also pedestal mounted and use similar back-up batteries coupled to a battery charger housed in an explosion-proof container. All equipment is UL to Class 1, Division II, Gas group D.
