HOUSTON– HB Rentals has installed a new temporary living quarters (TLQ) on the Far Sentinel, a 15,000-gross ton (13,607-metric ton) subsea construction/inspection, maintenance, and repair vessel owned and managed by Norway’s Farstad Shipping ASA.

The 84-personnel on board (POB) temporary living quarters consists of seven A60 – ABS/USCG 12-man sleeper modules and one change room module. Additional scope includes sewage lift pumps, fire detection panel, 1,500 gallon MSD sewage unit, transformer distribution skid, and stairs and porches.

The TLQ compliments a 130 POB permanent living quarters onFar Sentinel, which is capable of operating in up to 3,000 m (9,842 ft) water depth and features two offshore cranes and two ROVs.

HB Rentals said that a unique challenge of this project was the tight time window Farstad had to select a TLQ supplier, engineer the solution, obtain regulatory approval, install the entire complex with platforms and stairs, and then reach the project site offshore Mexico. To accelerate the process, a detailed site survey took place in Newcastle, England, by an Aberdeen-based HB Rentals project manager before the vessel sailed on to port in Louisiana.

This project marks Farstad’s return to Mexican waters, where it had previously operated subsea vessels. HB Rentals’ Ciudad del Carmen operating and service facility is available to serviceFar Sentinel’s TLQ if needed.
