Saipem to lay Sakarya pipeline, remove Thistle platform

Saipem has received two new offshore EPCI contracts for programs in the Black Sea and North Sea, with a combined value of about $850 million.

MILAN, Italy  Saipem has received two new offshore EPCI contracts for programs in the Black Sea and North Sea, with a combined value of about $850 million.

Turkish Petroleum OTC has commissioned the company to engineer, procure, construct and install a 175-km 16-inch pipeline in 2,200 m of water for Phase 2 of Sakarya gas field development in the Turkish sector of the Black Sea.

Saipem’s Castorone pipelaying vessel will start offshore operations in 2024. The company also worked on the recently completed Phase 1, under a contract awarded in 2021.

In the UK northern North Sea, the semisubmersible crane-lift vessel Saipem 7000 will remove the jacket and topsides of EnQuest’s Thistle A platform in 162 m water depth.

Saipem has responsibility for the engineering, preparation, removal and disposal operation, potentially also of certain subsea facilities.
