Petronas and Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) have opened the new Centre for Offshore Renewable Energy (CEFORE) offshore Kuala Terengganu.

The facility is intended to generate renewable and reliable power through harnessing offshore wind, solar and wave energy. It also features energy storage and energy management systems.

According to Petronas, the project aligns with Malaysia’s National Energy Transition Roadmap and the country’s low-carbon agendas.

In addition, UMT and Institut Teknologi Petroleum PETRONAS (INSTEP) will use the facility to train engineers in renewable energy capabilities.

CEFORE is a collaborative academia/industry development, supported by Arema Energies, Schneider Electric, Citaglobal and Honeywell.
