SINGAPORE -- Sembawang Shipyard has won a $207-million contract to convert six passenger/car ferries into DP-2 Accommodation and Repair Vessels (ARV).
Work on the first vessel is scheduled to begin in January under the one-plus five option contract awarded by Equinox Offshore Accommodation Ltd. The first ARV, with accommodation for 400-500 people, will be delivered by 4Q 2008.
The workscope includes conversion of existing car decks to workshops; installation of new generators, a freshwater generator system, thrusters with DP-2 capabilities, and modification of the piping system.
Fifty new cabins will be added while existing cabins will be upgraded for workers' accommodation.
