ABERDEEN, UK – Two oil and gas suppliers based in Aberdeen, UK – environmental management specialist Scotoil Services and design and manufacturing firm BME UK Ltd. – have formed a new joint venture, Scotoil Offshore Services Ltd. (SOS), which will provide decontamination modules (DCMs) to capture and contain waste offshore.

SOS will provide radiation protection supervisors to oversee the disposal naturally occurring radioactive material (NORM) waste. The JV package revolves around efficiency, reducing the footprint of what normal offshore jetting involves.

The 20-ft (6-m) DCM will include its own jetting bay, lighting, lifting equipment, ventilation, and storage space for transporting all hoses, guns, spares, and personal protective equipment. The unit also houses a UHP water pump capable of 40,000 psi.
