Saipem wins block 17 EPCI contract

Total E&P Angola has awarded Saipem a contract for the block 17 gas export project.

MILAN -- Total E&P Angola has awarded Saipem a contract for the block 17 gas export project. Saipem's scope of work includes engineering, procurement, fabrication, transportation, and installation of a new 1,500-metric ton (1,653-ton) injection platform (single central platform) to be installed on block 2 in 38 m (125 ft) of water.

The block 17 gas project involves exporting block 17 gas to the block 2 area for injection into two oil depleted reservoirs located off the Angolan shore, about 230 km (143 mi) northwest of Luanda.

The marine activities will be carried out bySaipem 3000 in the second half of 2009.
