Aker Kvaerner has launched an internal process that will lead to the creation of one, new business area integrating maintenance, modifications, operations, and field development.

OSLO -- Aker Kvaerner has launched an internal process that will lead to the creation of one, new business area integrating maintenance, modifications, operations, and field development. The new business area will have nearly 8,500 employees, including more than 2,300 engineers.

"We do this to streamline our operations - to further sharpen our commercial edge to win new projects in new and current markets," says Simen Lieungh, president and CEO of Aker Kvaerner. This initiative will strengthen our ability to develop new business opportunities - and to deliver on our strategic targets."

The new model is expected to be fully operational from Jan. 1, 2009.
