RIO DE JANEIRO – Itaoca Terminal Marítimo and logistics provider Peterson Offshore Group have formed a partnership and consulting agreement for development of the Itaoca Offshore project.

This will be a private terminal at Itapemirim, in Espírito Santo state, southeast Brazil, providing logistical support for exploration and production of offshore oil and gas.

The development includes 10 mooring berths, a 300-m (984-ft) service pier, and a storage area of more than 600,000 cu m, with road access to BR 101 South, 23 km (14.3 mi) to the south.

Its location should suit operators with assets in the Espírito Santo basins and the northern portion of the Campos basin.

As co-managers of the port and logistics center, Peterson will provide operational support for the port and management of Itaoca Offshore, while advising on the commercialization opportunities and the layout.

Erwin Kooij, CEO of Peterson, said: “We have identified an opportunity for greater efficiency for transporting equipment and consumables to offshore platforms in Brazil.

“We will seek to replicate the model we have developed… in the North Sea and internationally. We are focusing on working as a port developer and developing a customer base.”

Construction for the project is expected to start in 2020.
