Petrobras brings onstream third Búzios field floater

Petrobras has started oil and natural gas production through the P-76, the third FPSO installed on the Búzios field in the presalt Santos basin offshore Brazil.

RIO DE JANEIRO– Petrobras has started oil and natural gas production through the P-76,the third FPSO installed on the Búzios field in the presalt Santos basin offshore Brazil.

The FPSO is located about 180 km (112 mi) off the coast of the state of Rio de Janeiro, in a water depth of 2,030 m (6,660 ft).

TheP-76 can process up to 150,000 b/d of oil and compress up to 6 MMcm/d of gas. It will be connected to 10 production wells and seven injector wells. Oil will be offloaded to relief vessels, with gas exported through presalt pipeline routes.

Discovered in 2010, Búzios is the main field under the Transfer of Rights Agreement. Thefield started production in April 2018, and another platform, the P-77, is expected to start-up this year.

TheP-76 is the second platform to start-up in 2019, out of four planned for this year, in line with the Petrobras Strategic Plan.

The company added that the completion of the hull conversion, the integration of the modules, and the final commissioning of the unit were carried out in Paraná.
