Faroe finds more oil with latest North Sea Brasse wells

Faroe Petroleum Norge has completed two appraisal wells on the Brasse discovery in the northern Norwegian North Sea.

OSLO, Norway – Faroe Petroleum Norge, recently acquired by DNO, has completed two appraisal wells on the Brasse discovery in the northern Norwegian North Sea.

Both were drilled by the semisubmersibleTransocean Arctic in 124 m (407 ft) water depth in production license 740, 10 km (6.2 mi) south of the Brage field and 120 km (74.6 mi) west of Bergen.

According to the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate, the first well (31/7-3 S) was dry. However, well 31/7-3 A intersected a total gas column of 15 m (49 ft) and an oil column of 47 m (154 ft) in the Sognefjord formation, with an oil/water contact 20 m (65.6 ft) deeper than in the discovery well.

Prior to drilling Faroe had estimated resources in the range of 8.9-14.6 MMcmoe.
