MELBOURNE, Australia – The Sampang PSC joint venture offshore Madura Island, Indonesia has approved a well on the Paus-Biru prospect, 27 km (16.8 mi) east of the Oyong field.

According to partnerCue Energy, the jackup COSL HYSY 937 should start drilling in late October, after completing various wells nearby for another operator.

The well, designed to test a four-way dip structural closure, will target the Mundu globigerina formation, analogous to the gas-producing zones at the Oyong and Wortel fields.

If successful, Paus-Biru will be tied into the existing Oyong infrastructure.
