Faroe cleared for North Sea Brasse appraisal drilling

Faroe Petroleum has permission from Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority to drill an exploration well on the Brasse Øst prospect in the North Sea.

OSLO, NorwayFaroe Petroleum has permission from Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) to drill an exploration well on the Brasse Øst prospect in the North Sea.

The semisubmersibleTransocean Arctic should spud well 31/7-3 this month in 124 m (407 ft) of water on production license 740, east of the Oseberg field.

Faroe is looking to appraise further oil potential in its 31/7-1 Brasse discovery.

Drilling should take at least 38 days to complete.

In addition, the PSA has authorized Aker BP to use the jackupMaersk Reacher as a quarters facility on the Valhall field in the southern Norwegian North Sea until the end of 2020, to support a high volume of development work at the field.
