ABERDEEN, UKFaroe Petroleum and partner Point Resources have committed to drill the Brasse East exploration well in the Norwegian North Sea this fall.

The semisubmersibleTransocean Arctic will drill the well in license PL740 after completing another for Faroe on the Rungne prospect in PL825.

Recent seismic reprocessing and reinterpretation work suggests significant hydrocarbon potential close to the eastern flank of the 2016Brasse field discovery.

The Brasse East well should help de-risk the wider prospective areas east and northeast of the Brasse field, which includes the Brasse Extension prospect.

Brasse is south of the Wintershall-operated Brage field complex and southeast of the Equinor-operated Oseberg field.

Late last year the Brasse field development feasibility study phase concluded, confirming various economically viable development solutions and export routes. Concept studies are now under way.
