GREAT YARMOUTH, UKClaxton will provide high-pressure riser and abrasive jet cutting services for Encana’s Deep Panuke decommissioning project offshore Nova Scotia, eastern Canada.

Deep Panuke is a gas field around 250 km (155 mi) southeast of Halifax on the Scotian shelf, 47 km (29 mi) west of Sable Island in 44 m (144 ft) of water, which produced gas through a production platform exporting to shore via a 175-km (109-mi) long export pipeline to Goldboro.

Production ceased in May and Encana has started planning facility and well decommissioning activities.

Claxton will supply a high-pressure subsea drilling riser system to connect the surface BOP stack on the rig with subsea horizontal trees.

The company will the use its SABRE subsea abrasive jet cutting system for well severance 3 m (9.8 ft) below the mudline on five subsea wells from the harsh environment jackupNoble Regina Allen, which has been contracted by Encana.

The well P&A program should begin in January 2020. Running, operation and pulling of the riser on each well should take about 25 days and will be followed by cutting. All work should be completed in mid-July 2020.
