Aker Solutions to modify BP FPSOs offshore Angola

Aker Solutions has received a five-year contract to supply brownfield modifications, maintenance, and operations support for BP’s Greater Plutonio and PSVM fields offshore Angola.

ABERDEEN, UKAker Solutions has received a five-year contract to supply brownfield modifications, maintenance, and operations support for BP’s Greater Plutonio and PSVM fields offshore Angola.

The scope of work covers the supply of engineering, procurement, and construction services for brownfield projects on the FPSOs located at each field. This includes support for upgrades to process, chemical and marine support systems, as well as refurbishment of ageing piping and equipment.

The FPSOGreater Plutonio is in Angola’s block 18 comprising five fields spread over an area of 5,000 sq km (1,931 sq mi) and in water depths of up to 1,600 m (5,249 ft). The FPSO PSVM is in block 31 comprising four fields spread over an area 34 km (21 mi) wide and in water depths of up to 2,000 m (6,562 ft).

This new contract, according to Aker Solutions, will benefit from an extensive local training program that it has been driving, developing strong in-country engineering competence for both subsea lifecycle services and topsides maintenance, modifications and operations. This ongoing commitment will help secure vital skills for the future of the energy industry in Angola.

Aker Solutions has been working in Angola since 1998 and currently has more than 270 employees in Luanda.

The order will be booked in 3Q 2018.
