The Egyptian authorities have approved a new concession agreement for the Nour offshore exploration license in the East Nile Delta basin of the Mediterranean Sea.

SAN DONATO MILANESE, Italy – The Egyptian authorities have approved a new concession agreement for the Nour offshore exploration license in the East Nile Delta basin of the Mediterranean Sea.

Nour is 50 km (31 mi) offshore in the Eastern Mediterranean, in water depths ranging from 50-400 m (164-1,312 ft) and covers 739 sq km (285 sq mi).

Eni, which operates via its subsidiary IEOC, plans to drill an exploration well later this year.

Tharwa Petroleum Co. has a 15% stake.
