PG providing range of pumps for latest Valhall platform

Aker BP has contracted PG Flow Solutions to supply pump systems for the new Valhall Flank West wellhead platform in the southern Norwegian North Sea.

HVALSTAD, NorwayAker BP has contracted PG Flow Solutions to supply pump systems for the new Valhall Flank West wellhead platform in the southern Norwegian North Sea.

The normally unmanned installation (NUI) is the first project for theWellhead Platform Alliance formed last year by Aker BP, Kvaerner, ABB, and Aker Solutions.

PG Flow Solutions will deliver a shaker drain pump, diesel transfer pump, pressure equalizing pump, fresh water pump, fresh water pressure pump, hazardous open drain pump and drains-recovered oil pump to the topsides, which is under construction at Kvaerner’s yard in Verdal, Norway.

Steve Paulsen, the company’s CEO, said: “The wellhead platform at Valhall Flank West will be fully electrified and designed to minimize the need for maintenance activities.

“I believe this has helped us secure this contract, as our pump systems are renowned for their reliability and low maintenance requirements. Additionally, we are able to meet a significantly accelerated delivery schedule…”

The NUI will be remotely operated from and tied back to the Valhall field center for processing and export. First oil is due in 4Q 2019.
