Statoil aiming to extend Norne’s production into 2030s

Statoil has applied to the Norwegian authorities to extend the technical life of the Norne FPSO and facilities at the associated Norne, Urd and Skuld subsea satellites, until the end of 2036.

STAVANGER, Norway – Statoil has applied to the Norwegian authorities to extend the technical life of the Norne FPSO and facilities at the associated Norne, Urd and Skuld subsea satellites, until the end of 2036.

Norne, in the Norwegian Sea, came onstream in 1997 and was originally expected to cease operations in 2014.

Statoil also revealed it has awarded two contracts to Aker Solutions Sandnessjøen.

One covers manufacture and supply of the 10 subsea templates for theJohan Castberg development in the Barents Sea, which will connect 30 wells on the oil field.

Six are due to be delivered next year and the remaining four in 2020. As a sub-supplier ofKværner, the plant will also provide a 300-metric ton (330-ton) flare boom and topsides modules weighing 170 metric tons (187 tons) for the Castberg FPSO.

Last year Aker Solutions Sandnessjøen won the contract to fabricate the subsea template and suction anchor for Snefrid Nord, a gas discovery 12 km (7.5 mi) from theAasta Hansteen field in the northern Norwegian Sea, which is due to start production this fall.
