Fire quickly contained on Goliat FPSO

A fire broke out early this morning in the sauna in the living quarters on the Goliat FPSO in the Norwegian Barents Sea.

SANDNES, Norway – A fire broke out early this morning in the sauna in the living quarters on the Goliat FPSO in the Norwegian Barents Sea.

Operator Eni Norge says the situation was quickly brought under control, although some smoke did develop. No one was injured.

All safety procedures worked as planned, the company added: production was shut down and the crew mustered to lifeboats, and all relevant authorities were notified.

The situation has since normalized, and the crew has demobilized in accordance with normal procedures.

Eni Norge has started an investigation to determine the causes.
