PSA investigating fire on Åsgard B platform offshore mid-Norway

The Norwegian Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) will investigate a fire that broke out in a transformer room early last week on the Åsgard B platform in the Norwegian Sea.

OSLO, Norway  The Norwegian Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) will investigate a fire that broke out in a transformer room early last week on the Åsgard B platform in the Norwegian Sea.

Although the fire was extinguished, produced smoke caused production to be shut down.

When the incident started, 118 people were onboard, with half of them subsequently transferred to another facility by search and rescue helicopter.

Equinor operates the Åsgard gas-condensate field.
