ABERDEEN, UK – Well-SENSE Technology has won the Intervention and Coiled Tubing Association (ICoTA) Europe’s Innovation Award for its FibreLine Intervention (FLI) technology.

FLI employs a bare, disposable fiber-optic line for distributed temperature and acoustic sensing.

The fiber is lowered through the vertical section of a well using what is claimed to be an innovative deployment tool, providing real-time measurements over its full length, and over an extended period of time.

FLI is said to differ from traditional fiber line measurement devices in that it is run into the well as a bare line instead of encased within an intervention media such as wireline.

Once it has delivered the necessary data it is disposed of into the well.

Well-SENSE claims the technology provides time, space, and cost savings. It can be deployed within a few hours of arrival on site, dispensing with the need for complicated rig up and rig down procedures, or the footprint occupied by spools of wireline and lubricators.
