MARSEILLE, FranceBourbon Mobility has ordered six new offshore oil and gas crew boats from Piriou shipyards.

The Surfer-type vessels, targeting a 20% reduction in fuel consumption, will operate offshore West Africa. The 27-m-long boats, with a maximum speed of 30 kts, will be able to transport between 50 and 70 passengers, and they will provided two deck spaces for cargo: 40 sq m at the stern and 20 sq m at the front.

Bourbon Mobility plans real-time data analysis for continuous fuel consumption optimization or engine operating parameters.

The engineering was a collaboration with naval architects Mauric, with a special focus on the vessels’ hydrodynamic lines and optimized propulsion system, to improve maneuverability. The Piriou shipyard provided input concerning the construction process.

The navigation bridge has been redesigned with improved control stations, Bourbon added, leading to better visibility for the pilot and including the latest navigation equipment.

All the vessels should be delivered in 2025.
