GREAT WALSINGHAM, UKTidal Transit has purchased a diesel-powered crew transfer vessel (CTV) from Singapore-based Penguin International.

The Incat Crowther UK-designed WindFlex-27 model, which will be named Arabella Jane, will be Tidal’s first 24-passenger vessel. The design allows for the vessel to switch to 100% electric power in the near future. It will be fitted with a Volvo Penta IPS to enable battery-powered propulsion and fuel efficiency in conventional mode.

Earlier this year, Tidal started work on a first electric CTV (E-CTV) retrofit project with offshore charging, e-Ginny, in partnership with Norfolk-based Goodchild Marine Services and using the same Volvo Penta propulsion system.

This vessel also will be capable of a retrofit to run on 100% electric power following e-Ginny trials.
