ABU DHABIi, UAERWE and partner Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company PJSC – Masdar have contracted Fugro to perform geotechnical surveys at the location for the Dogger Bank South (DBS) West wind farm in the UK southern North Sea.

The development is split across the separate DBS East and DBS West sites, each with a capacity of 1.5 GW and extending more than 500 sq km.

The Fugro Quest, Fugro Voyager and Normand Mermaid vessels will survey the below-seabed conditions from May through October at the location of each proposed turbine and platform foundation, and also the route of associated seabed infrastructure.

Results will support final design and engineering of the project.

RWE.Masdar expect to submit applications for development consent orders during the current quarter. If approved, the next steps would be to secure contracts for difference from the UK government, followed by financing, construction and finally commissioning by 2031.
