NORTH PERTH, Australia— Hartshead Resources and partner Rockrose Energy have contracted Gardline to perform a geophysical pipeline survey for their Anning and Somerville gas fields development in the UK southern North Sea.
The MV Ocean Observer should mobilize next month to the two field locations. Main goals of the survey are to provide confirmation of the seabed and sub-seabed soil conditions to complete the design and optimize installation of the gas export pipeline route.
Gardline will deploy a hull-mounted multi-beam echosounder; a sidescan sonar towed about 8 m above the sea floor; a magnetometer piggy-backed to sidescan sonar; a hull-mounted sub-bottom profiler; environmental cameras and environmental grab sampler; and vibrocorer and mini- CPT system to take samples/measurements in the top 6 m below the seabed.
Onshore/offshore laboratory tests of samples will follow international standards and procedures such as ISO, ASTM, BSI, NS, ISRM, Hartshead added.
