NIOC sanctions infill drilling at South Pars offshore Iran

National Iranian Oil Co. (NIOC) has awarded four contracts to companies in Iran to drill 35 infill wells on the South Pars gas field in the Persian Gulf.

TEHRAN, Iran National Iranian Oil Co. (NIOC) has awarded four contracts to companies in Iran to drill 35 infill wells on the South Pars gas field in the Persian Gulf, according to a report by news service Shana.

The combined value of the contracts is $1.17 billion. The program is designed to enhance productivity and maintain gas production from the field.

Pars Oil and Gas Co. (POGC) will oversee that the projects will be performed over a three-year period.

POGC CEO Mohammad Hossein Motejalli told Shana plans were in place to increase production by 30 MMcm/d this winter through bringing onstream more wells at South Pars Phase 11 and platform 13A as well as a new pipeline exporting gas from Phase 16.
